ESTINIEN
Estinien Wyrmblood is a non-player character in Final Fantasy XIV. He was once the Azure Dragoon, the mightiest hero of Ishgard, but has since retired to the life of an errant knight. Once taken as the vessel of the great wyrm Nidhogg, he has inherited the remains of his old enemy's essence, wielding the power of dragons.

❖ First Impressions ❖
Physical
The most immediately striking thing about Estinien is that he is very tall - 6'8" to be exact, which is actually only average for an Elezen. His ears and limbs are long to match, lanky in a way that is on the very edge of plausibility for a human, but definitely pushing it. His hair is long and naturally white, and also looks like it hasn't been cut properly in years, the bangs being the only part he trims, and that only with a sharp knife. He has the type of hard muscle and toned physique that only comes from working out every day for twenty years. Estinien has a deep, growly voice and a Welsh accent.
Personality
Estinien is reserved and tends to stand on the outskirts of most groups, with a closed body posture in the form of habitually crossed arms and disaffected leaning against walls. While he is far from chatty, he is also not afraid to offer his opinion whenever he feels it is warranted, and is prone to giving criticism regardless of whether it is socially acceptable. He does have a sense of humour, but it's wry and a bit harsh. He is not afraid to be caught staring at people.
❖ Background ❖
Once a legendary dragon-slaying knight known as the Azure Dragoon, Estinien spent twenty years of his life obsessively pursuing revenge against Nidhogg, the great wyrm that butchered his family and village when he was still a child. For decades, the only thing on his mind was achieving this revenge, which has resulted in him having a severe lack of social development, no hobbies, no life prospects, and few skills outside of combat.

After becoming possessed by the very dragon he was striving to kill, and discovering that the two of them actually had a lot in common and were both seeking revenge for the unconscionable wrongs done to them, he finally achieved some level of peace and was able to break the cycle of violence that ruled both his life and perpetuated the war destroying his nation. Having become hybridized with dragon aether and imbued with the emotions and memories of his old enemy, he vowed to become a champion for dragon and mankind both.

These days he's learned the power of love and friendship and, while still being inept at living a peaceful life for many reasons, is trying his best to honor his hard-won faith in peace by doing whatever the heroes need him to do. Despite his love for his friends, he's still only really good at killing things.

CHARACTER PITCH: Once a legendary dragon-slaying knight known as the Azure Dragoon, Estinien spent twenty years of his life obsessively pursuing revenge against Nidhogg, the great wyrm that butchered his family and village when he was still a child.

POWERS: As a general note to all of Estinien's powers, they are rooted in the concept of "aether" which is the life energy that literally everything in his universe is made out of. Magic, souls, plants, humans, rocks, technology, memories - all of it is made by aether, and warriors also use their aether in a manner similar to the concept of "chi" to empower their techniques to supernatural heights. There are eight elemental forms of aether that have different properties, and members of mankind are meant to have a perfect balance of them in their natural state. Estinien is not any kind of mage, but he has honed his abilities as a dragoon, which involves reaching these supernatural levels of prowess by tapping into his own natural aether.

Additionally, he has learned how to channel the unique aether belonging to dragons - he used to do this by manipulating a stolen dragon eye, the wellspring of a dragon's strength, but then later he is fused with the soul (and the eyes) of one of the most powerful dragons of his world. The dragon's spirit is eventually exorcised and its eyes are destroyed, but Estinien has inherited a significant amount of dragon aether from the experience and retains dragon abilities even though said dragon (the Great Wyrm Nidhogg) is dead. Estinien considers Nidhogg to be "a part of him", and retains some of his memories and emotions. He can also do things as a result that are considered absurdly powerful even by the standards of his high fantasy universe.

General Nerfs: Estinien's powers are mostly just different ways of exploding/destroying things so all of this will be reduced to accommodate the game's power cap. I don't think anything else is in conflict.

DRAGOON LEAPS AND DIVES: The signature move of the combat style Estinien has mastered, dragoons are able to leap to great heights and control the trajectory of their movements while airborne. They harness this ability for enhanced mobility against flying opponents, as well as delivering punishing attacks to those on the ground - mostly in form of hurling themself at their opponents, striking with the full force of their body placed behind their lance. While it isn't quite like flying as Estinien cannot stay in the air indefinitely, he can leap so high and far that the difference may not be apparent to those on the ground. He's been shown leaping into the clouds and then diving all the way back down to the ground without sustaining any damage. The game never outlines how these techniques are mastered but based on the extended Final Fantasy 14 canon, it's probably from manipulating wind aether.

FIRE EMPOWERED ATTACKS: Estinien can empower lance blows with fire aether to essentially cause a destructive explosion at the location he hits with a dive. This was something he could do before his fusion with Nidhogg, but its power has been enhanced by it, namely through a technique called "Stardiver" which is inherited from Nidhogg directly. While the game doesn't go into more specifics, destructive fire magic is generally within his wheelhouse, though specifically in the context of his existing dragoon techniques. He doesn't breathe fire or throw fireballs. (That we know of. See "Nidhogg Wild Card" below.)

NIDHOGG DESTRUCTION MAGIC: There are other magical abilities he's inherited from Nidhogg that are not specifically fire, and seem to instead be unaspected or dark-element destruction. This includes techniques like Nastrond (a blast of destructive energy following the line of a spear thrust), Ala Morn (a magically empowered lance strike), and Horrid Roar (a psychic/sonic wave emitted from his body that basically destroys everything around him, canonically shown to blow up a room full of small robots. It may also cause victims to panic.). Darkdragon Dive is his most ultimate attack, creates his biggest explosion, and can only be used once when he's already on battle high. (AKA, a Limit Break, for those familiar with Final Fantasy.)

Many of these abilities are primarily used when he is in a powered-up state, calling upon the spirit of Nidhogg to destroy their enemies. He's been shown blowing up giant robots and decimating large portions of machinery/architecture by doing this, neither of which seemed to tax him that severely.

NIDHOGG WILD CARD: While this list covers the major beats of what we've seen him do in-game, recent canon has indicated that when Estinien enters his state of enhanced communion with Nidhogg's aether, he may end up pulling techniques from Nidhogg's repertoire that he has never performed before. Most of these abilities are just variations on the stuff I've mentioned above (different animations for similar effects, as it were) but in this particular instance, he spontaneously reproduced a move where Nidhogg split himself into six temporary copies to deliver a total of seven simultaneous attacks. These clones can't do anything besides this and have no utility purpose outside of delivering an attack and disappearing immediately afterward.

QUESTIONNAIRE

What is the worst or most malicious thing your character has ever done? How do they feel about it now? Was this sort of action typical of them?

Generally speaking, the worst thing he's done is participate in the circle of violence that plagued his homeland for hundreds of years. While he was growing up, Ishgard was locked in an ages-old feud with a Nidhogg'd brood of dragons - a conflict which ultimately turned out to be unjust on both sides, but was started by Ishgard's ancestors. Having lost his family to those dragons as a child, Estinien swore his revenge, and spent most of his life obsessively training to one day kill Nidhogg, their leader. He killed many dragons along the way, dragons that may have had no choice but to fight, and now that he has seen the mutual pain caused by the war he regrets his part in it. There was no one instance that was "worse" than the rest of it, his life was just centered around inflicting misery and death upon the 'enemy' for many years. At the time this was typical for him, of course... it was only with the benefit of hindsight that he's come to see how unjust and meaningless it was.

What is the most altruistic or selfless thing your character has ever done? How do they feel about it now? Was this sort of action typical of them?

Estinien has always been fairly self-sacrificing, but in the past, it was simply because he didn't see his life as having any value outside of his potential ability to kill Nidhogg. In recent days, though, this has changed somewhat to become an enduring faith in his friends. When FFXIV's heroes made their quest to Ultima Thule, the realm of the being that was threatening to destroy their entire world, there came a moment where Estinien realized he could enable the rest of his team to continue onward by sacrificing his life. With no assurance that he would be revived or that they would even make it to the end, his faith led him to make the sacrifice, believing wholly that they could save the world without him. He got completely obliterated for the team and did it with a smile on his face. He'd absolutely do it again.

What do they desire above all else? How far would they go to accomplish their goals or fulfill those desires? Do they have lines they wouldn't cross?

For most of his life, Estinien has had no ambitions besides achieving his revenge, so this is a tricky question. Nowadays he mostly desires the simple things - the safety and happiness of his loved ones and the continuance of peace between mankind and dragons. The world he lives in is changing for the better and he wants it to keep flourishing. Wholesome as that is, he would probably kill just about anyone to prevent things from going awry. Though he highly respects the altruistic and peace-making philosophies of his comrades, he doesn't actually have a very stable moral compass without them.

GAME DETAILS

LEGACY: The Firebrand. Estinien has always grated against cultural expectations, and once he had the power to do so, he started defying authority at every turn if he thought it would bring him closer to his goals. His approach to most problems is to bulldoze through obstacles rather than finesse them, and is fully prepared to keep moving forward rather than being stuck in the past. He's also famous for his destructive capabilities and his dogged pursuit of revenge. If something is hurting him or his loved ones he is inclined to tear it down.

INTRODUCTORY SECT: Pleroma. Estinien just finished fighting against a god-like embodiment of despair in his canon, and while he's certainly shaken by the introductory scenario to Aion Teleos, it will take more than that for him to surrender to something like the Kenoma. Strength of will is one of his most central traits, even if it's complicated by his emotional damage. He believes it's his responsibility to keep fighting for his world even if it might be gone.

HORIZON DOMAIN

THE OUTER WALL
elemental crystals, floating islands, frozen peaks
Estinien's domain is completely encircled by a mountainous wall of stone and crystal. It's much thinner and more compact than a regular mountain (true mountains would be way too big) and is mostly sheer cliff aside from the various tunnels that open to the outside. Various glowing crystals decorate the rockface, mostly in shades of red, orange, and blue. To those inclined to search for magical essences, many of them seem to be charged with elemental fire and ice. While the wall is imposing, it's actually relatively easy to find caverns and pathways that lead to the interior. The peaks of this wall are bitterly cold and snow covered.
Various crystal islands float around the perimeter of the wall. They are sturdy enough to stand on them. All of them are at least partially aspected with wind or earth magic.
Abandoned ruins litter the mountain landscape, leading to its interior caves. They seem to be a mixture of stonework that would be at home in ancient temples with carved draconic iconography, as well as scattered gothic architecture.
THE DOWN BELOW
crystalline caverns, expansive tunnels, gothic ruins
While the mountain wall is very tall, it also extends deep below the earth, a network of caverns and tunnels spread beneath the valley itself. These caverns contain more complete renditions of the ruins seen on the outside, abandoned daises, forgotten stairwells, and statues of dragons and spear wielding goddesses fused with the natural stone. In the deeper portions, you can also find ancient, draconic skeletal remains.
Some caverns are entirely filled with crystal, as if being in the center of a giant geode. Magical energy of all elements are thick here, but ice and fire remain the most concentrated. This energy, which Estinien calls 'aether', is constantly present in his domain.
Some fire-attuned caverns seemed to be filled with oval structures that look like some manner of nesting ground - sure enough, the remains of giants egg shells can be found here, but no living young.
THE INNER VALLEY
lush grassland, coniferous trees, endless waterfall
Once you are through the mountain wall, a creamy nougat of beautiful valley is revealed. While its size depends on availability (and it is likely less large than pictured) it is filled with pastoral animals and largely untamed wilderness - besides the presence of some roads that lead nowhere in particular. There is a single old-timey house at the center point of these roads, but while it is in good repair it is completely empty. Wherever in the mountains Estinien's lair is, it is not that.
Leading down into the valley's lake and primary water source is a waterfall that winds up through the mountain trees - seemingly forever. If you fly above, you'll lose track of where it leads, and if you follow it on foot it will just keep curling through endless trees forever. It doesn't actually seem to have a concrete source.
There are also various hotsprings on the same mountainface as the waterfall. At night it is more obvious, but if you look beneath the water you'll see that it is actually heated by glowing fire-crystals woven into the stone. When it's dark, it creates a soft orange light.
DOMAIN RESIDENTS
pastoral animals, beasts of burden
The most prized members of the domain, karakul sheep vastly outnumber the other animals in the valley. Round and soft with shades of black and white wool, their actual bodies are much smaller than their fleece makes them appear. While they, and all the other animals present, are domesticated, they may become ornery if provoked. For the most part, though, they are content to merely eat and sleep the day away. The females produce milk.
Wooly yaks are huge beasts, about the size of an elephant and with just as much crushing power. While they may lash out at people they are unfamiliar with, they will mostly keep to themselves. They create mountainous amounts of fleece when sheared. They wander alone rather than travelling with a herd.
Sharing many characteristics with buffalo, the dzo of the valley are trained to pull carts, be sheared for their hair, and be milked. While they can do a ton of damage if agitated, they keep to their herd.
A single family of completely regular horses. There's nothing about them that doesn't apply to normal horses. They are shy, but receptive to offerings of food.
Several chocobo of both yellow and black colorations can be found. While they are trained to work alongside humans, they also have the most innate protective insincts - they will fight on behalf of the other animals if need be. They also seem to have some very limited magical capabilities, casting minor healer spells and small projectile blasts of magic. They are large enough to be ridden by a heavy human.
Various starling-sized birds with bright, rainbow colorations inhabit the valley's trees. These were originally created by Jaskier to help find Estinien's lost sheep during a wildfire. He's since allowed them to remain as permanent residents.

AURAL Estinien has a deep, growly voice and a Welsh accent. His voice tends to get even gravellier when he's in combat or feeling intense. Generally, he speaks levelly except when on the battlefield, in which case he's more inclined to yell. It's hard to get a strong auditory reaction out of him, otherwise.
OLFACTORY For the most part he smells like a normal man, though probably a bit sweaty from how much working out he does. He doesn't use deorderant, even when it's available, so you're pretty much getting the natural experience. All other notable scents are missing due to his lack of equipment.

Canon Point: After "Death Unto Dawn" Part 1
Background: Wiki Link

Suitability: Coming from a realm not unlike Abraxas, this is the exact sort of setting he's accustomed to. Nations warring over ancient power, magical technology, gods walking the earth, horror both psychological and physical - it's all familiar enough that he'll know how to move within it, but different enough to keep him guessing. He has his own preconceptions formed around these ideas, of course, but he is open to new information, and the conflict will be fun to play out. His entire worldview has been changed by new circumstances more than once, and having grown up in a wartorn country, he is the type to adapt and survive.

Beyond that, while I don't yet know what faction he'll end up serving, he is a character that works well as a supporting figure for other character's stories, whether that be endorsing an NPC leader or a player one. He's a powerful warrior, but one that requires the guiding presence of others to bring him to his fullest potential. On his own he is an aimless wanderer, but with the leadership of another, he can truly make a difference. I'd love for him to find an existing cause to back in this way. In his canon narrative, he's been taking intentional steps towards being a more active force for the good of his world, in particular by officially joining the story's heroes, the Scions. He'll try to do the same here, it's just a matter of who ends up recruiting him. He's extremely loyal to those that have earned his trust, and is concerned with the plight of the 'little people' caught up on the throes of war.

He'll easily fight and die for the sake of his home and the people he loves, having spent most of his life as a soldier and having a shaky identity outside of that. He also has a complicated relationship with the concept of revenge - he spent his entire life pursuing his own revenge, and everything he did as an adult was for the sake of pursuing it. With the enemy he pursued for so long dead, he's become aware of the futility of vengeance... but it's also something carved deeply into his heart. He is absolutely the sort that would pursue those that have wronged him, especially if it seems to be for the sake of the greater good - in his mind, at least. Hunting down that NPC that was horrible to him is absolutely something he would do, and with him starting off imprisoned, he's already sworn vengeance against Thorne, threatening to become the danger they accuse him of being. This feeling could be assuaged, depending on future circumstances, but any further cruelty from them could also serve to make it much worse.

DRAGOON LEAPS AND DIVES: The signature move of the combat style Estinien has mastered, dragoons are able to leap to great heights and control the trajectory of their movements while airborne.

NIDHOGG DESTRUCTION MAGIC: There are other magical abilities he's inherited from Nidhogg that are not specifically fire, and seem to instead be unaspected (corresponding to no particular element) destruction. This includes techniques like Nastrond (a blast of destructive energy following the line of a spear thrust), Ala Morn (a magically empowered lance strike), and Horrid Roar (a psychic/sonic wave emitted from his body that basically destroys everything around him, canonically shown to blow up a room full of small robots). He's been shown blowing up giant robots and decimating large portions of machinery/architecture by doing this, neither of which seemed to tax him that severely. Of course, he also seems to only use this state as a last resort, and so it can be assumed there is a limit to how much he can exert himself in a single conflict.

PERSONALITY QUESTIONS

Describe an important event in your character's life and how it impacted them.
Without question, the defining moment of Estinien's life is the day he lost his family and entire rural community to a dragon attack lead by their leader, the great wyrm Nidhogg. He was twelve years old at the time, and spared only because he had been in the hills tending to his family's small flock of sheep when it happened. He saw the dragons in the sky and knew what it meant - he ran as fast as he could back to his village, but by the time he arrived, it was already consumed by fire. He found the bodies of his family inside his collapsed house, buried in rubble and covered in ash. His deceased little brother stuck out to him in particular, his young face oddly pristine among the carnage, almost looking as if he would someday wake up. He never did.

A terrible battle between Nidhogg and the then Azure Dragoon, Alberic Bale, had taken place that day. Alberic had fought Nidhogg for three consecutive days as the wyrm rampaged across Coerthas, but was ultimately unable to stop his horde from destroying his final stop, Estinien's home. The Azure Dragoon is an elite rank and the most powerful dragon-slaying champion of their nation, drawing strength from Nidhogg's own stolen eye. In the end, Alberic did end up driving off Nidhogg, but not before the damage was done and he had been forced to relinquish the power of Nidhogg's eye to avoid being consumed by it. No longer the Azure Dragoon, Alberic took Estinien, the only survivor of the massacre, into his home.

In the aftermath, Estinien could think only of revenge. Though still so young, he began training under Alberic as a dragoon, determined to become the next Azure Dragoon and kill Nidhogg himself, in the way Alberic had failed to. Consumed by guilt for his failure, Alberic did not refuse him. This began a twenty-year-long obsession for Estinien, where his every action was for the sake of eventually claiming the mantle of Azure Dragoon and taking his revenge. He spurned social contact and maintained absolutely no hobbies, focusing only on training and getting stronger. The effect on him as a person was profound, so consumed by his thirst that he never really took the chance to heal or properly mourn. It's only now, in his thirties, with Nidhogg dead and his nation saved from its endless war, that he's been able to truly begin his recovery.

If Estinien had never lost his family or sworn revenge against Nidhogg, he would be a completely different person. These days, his biggest challenge is figuring out who he is now that the Dragonsong War is over.

Does your character have a moral code, or other set of standards they try to live by?
While I would consider Estinien to have a "normal person" level of empathy and concern for the struggles of others, it doesn't seem that he's ever felt particularly empowered to make the world better or to stand up for his beliefs. Instead, he has historically behaved more as a neutral tool of destruction - ultimately, he's fought to save Ishgard from what destruction he could, but early in canon he says himself that his quest for revenge and his duty to protect Ishgard are one and the same to him. He would fight to save lives, but it was not what was primarily on his mind when going through life, his passion directed towards retribution more than rehabilitation. He doesn't consider himself a hero and, for much of his life, he hasn't tried to be. Any time another character tried to compliment his character, he would shrug it off or deny it. He doesn't want credit where he doesn't believe it is due.

In more recent times, however, he has started trying to live by the standards of the people he admires (which is gone into more detail in the question below) and to fight for a better future. Still, he conceptualizes himself more like the "bad cop" to the hero's "good cop" - he's not all that concerned about killing people who are the enemy and his morals are a bit lukewarm. He's against the standard things, like harming innocents and civilians, but is so accustomed to violence that he doesn't spend all that much thought on it if it's for the good of the realm and the other party was an active aggressor. He's become more empathetic towards his "enemies" with time, but he's wary of offering compassion to those that don't deserve it. Ultimately, he'd rather just stab the villain and be done with it.

Estinien has spent so much time with tunnel vision centered on his revenge against Nidhogg that he really hasn't had much time to develop a strong personal code of his own. In that sense, he is still working himself out and tends to rely on the vision and leadership of others on moral matters.

What quality or qualities do they admire most?
While Estinien sees himself as a realist and comes across as cynical with regard to the state of the world, he truthfully finds himself drawn to those with the will to dream of and work towards a better future. There's an odd separation in his perspective on this - while he doesn't see himself capable of being a dreamer, personally, he admires other people's ability to do so. You can see this reflected in his choice of most respected comrades: his lifelong friend Aymeric de Borel, a visionary leader of their shared nation of Ishgard, Alphinaud Leveilleur, the young Scion determined to save the world and who risked everything to save Estinien's life, and the Warrior of Light, the world's greatest hero and hope. He has come to believe in people who believe in a better future, even if he can't quite believe in it himself. He respects compassion, even if he is unfamiliar with giving it.

Do they have a part of themselves they dislike?
Primarily, he dislikes his own participation in the circle of violence that plagued his homeland for hundreds of years. He did this at the exception of everything else, having no hobbies and spurning most social matters until the age of thirty-two. He killed many dragons along the way, and now that he has seen the mutual pain caused by the war, he regrets his part in it. He's come to understand that him and Nidhogg were alike in their thirst for vengeance, inflicting death and destruction upon the other side. He understands this aspect of himself, now, but I don't think he likes it. He's working to change and to fight for something better.

What is their sign, and why?
The Hermit. If you ask just about anyone who knows Estinien, they will tell you that he prefers his own company and finding his own way. He spent his early days in the military avoiding socializing in favour of obsessive training, making only a single friend in over a decade of service, whom had been both patient and understanding enough to win Estinien's affections. Once he earned a high enough rank for the upper crust to desire his company, he spurned so many invitations and social gatherings that they stopped sending them to him altogether. Even for those he loves most, his presence cannot be relied upon - he's prone to going on missions in a solo capacity, wandering off for months at a time only to return just as mysteriously.

He has wound up with a handful of friends that he cares deeply for, but part of that is in accepting his tendency towards isolation. In recent years, his solitude has taken on a more introspective bend, with him journeying around the land on his own, trying to discover himself in the aftermath of a war that had consumed his entire life. He's not opposed to working with others if the situation demands it, willingly joining teams for the purpose of important missions or even if they are just insistent enough, but even then, the siren call of privacy and wandering will come for him eventually. He is learning to be closer to others, but he will always value his alone time.

PSL INFO

PERSONAL STORYLINES
"SPARE US THE HYPERBOLE. TIS NOT FOR PRAISE THAT WE FIGHT."
Looking For
setting. Mostly canon FFXIV universe, canon divergent AUs, other low key AUs, cross-canon AUs.
genres. Gen Fic, Hurt Comfort, Angst, Drama, Political Intrigue, Maybe Smut.
shipping. I ship him with Aymeric, Ysayle, and potentially some WoL OCs. Anything else requires discussion.
pace. I'm a fairly fast tagger and try to keep up a pace of at least once every day or two, with periods of boomeranging when the opportunity strikes.
scope. Long form, multi scene PSLs with involved stories are the ideal, but I will also mess around with one off threads.
format. I prefer writing in prose, but if this is a problem I can accomodate.

About
Hello! FFXIV has really caused me to be bitten by the PSL bug, so I put together this page to write out the details of what I'm interested in playing, as well as any general plot hooks or concepts I come up with. The stuff listed here isn't the only content I'm interested in playing, but it's the stuff that's definitely on my wishlist. Hit me up in the comments below if you're interested in putting something together! I'm currently mostly interested in FFXIV canon characters, but if you play from another canon that vibes well with the concepts of the FFXIV setting, I'm up for trying that as well!
General Themes
➤ HURT/COMFORT: The bread and butter of what I like to do in RP. Many of my favourite PSLs have followed the pattern of 'something terribly fucked up happens to one of the characters, the other character helps them through recovery, and then they go on to try to rectify whatever situation caused this.' In particular, I like the trauma to be on the intense side, where the character is brought close to if not over a breaking point, and then has to find their way back. This can include torture, long term imprisonment, slavery, whatever. Important to note, though, is that while the trauma can be intense, I do like for the story to be about recovery and to have an overall hopeful outlook.

➤ INVOLVED STORYLINES: I have a habit of overthinking PSL concepts, but in general, I do like for RP stories to have a solid narrative context to them. This means I will want to work out details about the general situation that is happening to the characters and to develop it further as the story moves along. Basically, this just means I'm not particularly good at completely winging it, and like to have a solid foundation to work off of. I love to plot and I feel like FFXIV in particular has tons of opportunities to do so.
Specific PSL Ideas
➤ DRAGON BLOOD
genres. Transformation, Body Horror, Hurt/Comfort
This one is mostly applicable to Ishgardian characters, but essentially the idea is that someone susceptible to dragons blood is forced to consume it for some reason or another. This could either happen during the Dragonsong War as a canon divergent AU, or happen after the war is over at a more recent canon point. Mostly my intent here would just be to deal with the potential body horror and social implications after the fact. Estinien could be on either side of this, either using his own dragon connections as a way to help the afflicted person, or he could end up consuming it himself, dragging up the Nidhogg influence that's already latent inside of him. I have a few scenarios in mind for this, some of which tie into the PSL idea below.

➤ GARLEAN IMPRISONMENT
genres. Angst, Hurt/Comfort, Experimentation, Political Intrigue
Either one or both characters are captured as prisoners of war by the Garleans. This could focus on playing out the aftermath when the imprisoned character is released, or deal with the ongoing situation of both characters being prisoners of war together. This could be a completely practical, politically motivated imprisonment, or we could hype up the angst by also including some Garlean/Allagan bullshit experimentation that happens while they are trapped there. For either of these angles, it would be fun to explore the political ramifications of the situation, and in the latter, working towards an eventual escape.

➤ BECOME EIKON
genres. Transformation, Mind Control, Drama
For whatever situational reason, a character takes it upon themselves to summon an primal into their body - most likely as a means to counter some greater threat in a time of absolute need. Of course, after they are victorious, they don't come down from their high so quickly. Instead, they are overwhelmed by the desires of the primal they are being a vessel to and have to be coaxed back by the other character. For Estinien I would probably do a Nidhogg primal or some other dragon-related thing, but for other characters, you could pick whatever is most fitting. How much of a disaster this ends up being is flexible, so it could be as angsty as you like.

NOTES & OTHER INFO
All of these kinks are from an OOC perspective, to give an idea of what I'd be interested in playing with him. Estinien doesn't know enough about sex to have opinions on most of this stuff, given that he's been pretty preoccupied for most of his life and comes from a fairly conservative fantasy nation. For the nasty stuff like non-con and dub-con it's more that I'm interested in contriving situations where it happens rather than it being something the 'player characters' would choose to do.

About
Estinien Wyrmblood is a non-player character in Final Fantasy XIV. He was once the Azure Dragoon, the mightiest hero of Ishgard, but has since retired to the life of an errant knight. Once taken as the vessel of the great wyrm Nidhogg, he has inherited the remains of his old enemy's essence, allowing him to wield the power of dragons.
Personality
➤ STOIC: Despite having been fuelled by a thirst for vengeance most of his life, Estinien plays his emotions pretty close to his chest, and doesn't seem to be particularly easy to agitate. While threats and disrespect will receive the same in kind, he doesn't go out of his way to start fights in social settings and keeps his own anger and frustration at a cold burn. He doesn't often show overt sentimentality and takes most things in stride. He's already experienced so many horrible things, there isn't much that causes him to visibly balk.

➤ IRREVERENT: While he isn't easily provoked, he does pretty much just go ahead and say whatever he feels like saying in a given moment. He sees no need to pay respect to things or people he sees as unworthy of it, and scorns all of the Ishgardian social customs he considers to be a waste of his time. He doesn't have much respect for Ishgardian politics, nor the behavior of its church. That isn't to say that he's rude for no reason - it's just that he'll casually take the piss out of anybody that he thinks has it coming, including himself.

➤ INDEPENDANT: Estinien isn't the kind to spend much of his time in the company of others. As a teen and young adult, he spent most of his time training, having little interest in pursuing friendships or even attempting to socialize. In the present, he has managed to end up with some friends despite himself, but even so, whenever he spends much time in other people's company, it seems inevitable that he will eventually head off on his own again. He values his privacy and is accustomed to handling things on his own.

➤ LOYAL: Despite his penchant for self-isolation, Estinien is dedicated to his cause and to the people he cares for. He's fought tooth and nail for Ishgard, and after leaving that duty, he's quick to assume the mantle of a warrior fighting for man and dragon both. He has a tendency to appear out of nowhere to aid his companions, and though he usually leaves soon after, he'll do what he has to do to keep them safe.

➤ SINGLEMINDED: Estinien has no hobbies and has spent his entire life fighting and training to fight better. The war against the dragons has been the only thing on his mind for a long time, and until very recently he's had no desire to actively pursue anything that isn't that. He doesn't take particularly good care of himself physically or spiritually as a result, given that his attention rarely strays from the task at hand.
Headcanons
➤ SLEEP HABITS: Estinien is gifted with the ability to sleep in small bursts without going prone, basically like a horse. He can doze off while sitting upright, only to snap awake and be ready to go the next moment.

➤ SCARRING: Though it's not really established in his character model, I choose to believe that Estinien has quite a few scars beneath his armor from various injuries.

➤ FISHING: After retiring as Azure Dragoon, he has the capacity to become interested in fishing as a hobby. How far along he is on that journey would depend on the context, but it could very well become his first real interest outside of battle.
